Interview: Ron Faverty - Rome SnowboardsPosted on January 16th, 2008 by brabee | | 572 views |

Yo Ron, what’s going on?
Not much just working as usual…
What’s work??? Tell everyone the usual; How old? Hometown, and your current stomping grounds.
I’m 26, grew up in Londonderry NH and now I live in Waterbury VT.
So tell me about Rome, how did you get involved?
I was working in a shop in CO and was thinking about moving back east and wanted to stay involved in the snowboard industry. I loved Rome when I was out west so when I saw a job opening online, I applied, and called them pretty heavily. Actually, I moved to Waterbury before I even had the job…I think they were stoked on that commitment, that and me standing in the parking lot day after day staring at the building weirded them out, so they invited me to come in and work.
Do you get more chicks since you have started working with Rome, or have you already tied the knot with a lucky lady?
I’m getting married in May actually, and on the off chance that she may read this, we’ll say girls pay less attention to me.
Congrats Ron! This interview is just between us then;) What is the daily grind like at Rome? Give us a typical day, step by step of what you do upon opening the office door.
For me actually, there really is no daily grind. That’s probably my favorite part of the job. It changes so much throughout the year I’m never doing the same thing, that probably sounds cliché, but it’s true. My job definitely satisfies the ADD in me.
How committed are the members of the rome snowboard clan as a whole? Do
some goof off and party more than others?
They’re by far the hardest working most committed group of people I’ve ever
had the opportunity to work with. Everyone is so passionate about what they
do, I think it really shows. As far as partying….hell yeah we party.
How is Rome going to improve for 2008-2009?
I’m super stoked on next year’s line. There’s going to be some additions to all the categories and stuff looks sick. A huge addition is Rome’s outerwear that’s going to be in stores next season. I love the look and fit, I’m dying to get some of it.
How often are you shredding these days and where are you getting your shred on?
I get as many days as I can… we’ll say 4 days a week min.
Who is your favorite person to ride with?
I guess whoever I know in the lift line when Stowe opens.
Who was the last person you called and why?
My buddy Dumont, I needed to get in his art studio to make some T shirts.
Where does Vermont get its name from, no cheating!
I think the whales vagina….that might be some other place though.
What do you think about Burton’s video challenge right now to try and
get ski only resorts to convert to snowboarding?
It’s awesome.
Would you rather…. while running through the woods from an enraged
wild boar, sprain your ankle severly, or accidentally step into an old
metal bucket and not be able to shake it off as you run?
I’ll take the bucket. It’s more cartoony and funny.
Who is your favorite midget and why?
Beetlejuice, I think the why goes without saying.
What’s the craziest thing you ever did in highschool with your homeys?
I’ll plead the 5th….I don’t know enough about the legalities of statutes
of limitations and all.
What are your top 5 favorite non-shred movies?
Top movie questions are a lot of pressure so I’ll just say 5 I can think of
I like….so, Royal Tenenbaums, Big Labowski, Cool Hand Luke, Clockwork
Orange and Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.
What are the top 5 all-time best shred films?
Well, I love all the Robotfood films, Kidsknow films are awesome, Absinthe
does amazing stuff. Any Means will probably go down as my favorite. It’s a
sick movie, and I’ve never been so close to the process of a movie being
made, which was really awesome.
How big of an impact do you think the internet has on action sports and
where do you see it all headed?
I think it’s huge. The flow of information is so instant. Even from last
year to this year, I used to get a lot of physical sponsor videos and almost
every sponsor video I’ve gotten this year has been a link to a youtube clip
or something.
What do you think of Seshn and are you stoked to be apart of it?
I’m super stoked. It’s a great site…it’s definitely been added to my
check out during lunch list.

Posted by brabee I am a computer nerd who loves to shred. I love technology, art, and rad websites. I also love my wife. She shreds with me. Note to all guys: find a wife that will rides and you will have a happy marriage. I am also the dude that started SESHN.com. I started Seshn because I thought there was a real void in the industry for a site that could give people interesting news and blogs on topics they actually are interested in. How many sites are out there that have the same boring press releases and information. Seshn gives users behind-the-scenes stuff that you don't find on typical sites. Not only that but we also help companies with their own blogs and rss aggregation needs. http://www.seshn.com |
