I was up at Breck for the last few days since they have shut all the lifts down as of Sunday afternoon. It could not have been better, going from 2 feet of blower pow on tuesday to perfect slushy spring time shredding by the weekend. Saturday was action packed all day, I did a bit of shooting with Colin Spencer who was wrapping up his park filming for the season. Alex Martini pulled some amazing in-air video work.

Shame they are closing with full coverage, prime parks and perfect pipe. Until next year.

Loon Mountain is one of the east coasts’ last mountainsstill open.  New Hampshires own Brendon Rego and Brandon Griffin found themselves in Lincoln, NH for 5 straight days enjoying what little winter still has left to offer.

The conditions were slushy as ever, with temperatures of almost 75 all weekend. Time off of the mountain was spent in shorts and tanktops sitting next to the grill with friends. Loon had its park groomed up so that people could take there last stab at the melting mountain during its last weekend.

As the weekend went on, we found ourselves strugging to keep up withthe slushy conditions spring has brought us. Numerous belly flops, scorpians, and unintentional front flips seemed to be the current scene for most riders out on the hill.

Loon’s final words were spoken today, April 21st. For your last chance to keep this winter alive, be sure to attend the final contest of the year, Hike and Huck, May 10th at Loon Mountain.

I can only imagine the unease of moms in Mammoth during the beginning of April. If I were them I’d consider hiding my sons. During the first week of April the ladies took over town as Snowboarder hosted their 4th annual Ms Superpark. And the ladies were out in full force. Having overlapped with the Chicken Jam this year due to weather the ladies took over town. Seriously, when else can you walk into a bar in a ski town and have the women outnumbering the men 5 to 1, huh? Here are a few photos of the few days Nikita was in town:

First we had to drive there from SoCal. It was flat, then a few hills, lots of run-down mines, random signs for The Best Jerky Ever and people of all walks of life manning the gas stations.

If you have yet to get the news, Shaun White no longer rides for Volcom anymore. He has started up his own clothing brand with Target. I was just browsing the interwebs today and check out Shaun’s website at ShaunWhite.com. Apparently the brand is launching very soon. It’s called Shaun White For Target. What do you think?

April 1st at Breckenridge has become a huge party day for all the local shreds. Its sick to see the whole snowboard scene together on one day having what seems the most fun you could have on the mountain. Hunting down a good set of retro gear, setting you stance back, maybe cutting a swallow tail, spraying everyone and everything in sight, and slashing like all the old school shredders is what its all about.

We were on the hill pretty early, the local holiday was still pretty low key but there was a good foot of fresh to be had. We headed directly for the T-bar and Imperial lift. After a short hike (around some very winded Welsh blokes) we had reached the summit of peak 8 with open powder fields in all directions. Once we had exhausted the new snow and some clouds rolled in we blasted our way to Park Lane. We were immediately surrounded by neon and snowblades, it was chaos. Constant soul trains with 2-4 people on a lip at any time, spread eagles, and the all mighty method were being thrown with screams of delight.

It was getting pretty dangerous in the park, after seeing more than a few wrecks we were thinking of calling it. Breck beat us to it. Soon the parks were closed to anyone wearing a “costume” and therefore empty except for the a few steezy shreders here and there, apparently the resort was not as stoked as the rest of us. Didn’t stick around to see the “gapers” unleashed on the rest of the mountain.

Snowboarders everywhere are rejoicing in their hearts today due to a recent change of heart from Taos Resort execs. Thank you Taos for having the balls to open your ski resort to Snowboarding. We all commend you!

If you are out of the loop, there were only four resorts in the U.S. that don’t allow Snowboarding… Alta, Deer Valley, Mad River Glenn and Taos. Two in Utah? WTF! Wake up UTAH!! It’s kind of funny to think that just as Burton launched their Power to the Poachers campaign, Taos quickly opened it’s doors. Too bad other resorts have yet to follow.

Not only is Taos opening up it’s doors today for shredding, they are doing it in style with an assortment of activities going on including jam sessions, beer tasting and tubing. Wow, hear that UTAH RESORTS?? Take a lesson from the staff over at Taos and stop bending over for the two plankers. Snowboarders are people too and we share the same exact passion that you do. Let’s all get along, be one, and have fun!

As a gift of welcoming into the shred community, we here at Seshn would like to cordially present the following as a gift to anyone that is apart of the Taos staff. Yes this does include the hotel maids….

This is a half painted Zebra, but a Zebra nonetheless, enjoy!

So for the intro Nikita post I thought I’d catch you up on a little of the latest activity. We went to Tahoe for a hot minute to shoot some photos and roll around in the snow in some flashy new outerwear. Twelve ladies, Brooke Geery came down from portland to play and make some sweet YouTube clips, two photo dudes, Josh and myself from the home office. Man, facilitating that group for a week. Woah. All in all, it was a rad time. Turns were made, bonks, boinks, taps, slaps, slashies and QT made the week sweet. Here’s Brooke’s YouTuberific synopsis:

Day two = Sierra. A drive and a half from north shore but well worth it. Slashes were made, belly races were had…and the entire park staff had Magnun PI moostaches. Creepy.

I think Brooke swiped this song from some MTV lame-o show. She would. Boreal was sunny and fresh. Uuuummmm…..more like below zero and solid. Still had fun.

More randoms from the week:

Buck 90 Productions is an eastcoast crew made up of riders around the CT and NH area. You can find us at Mt. Snow/Crotched/Loon/Waterville/Granite Gorge.- The past few months have been spent mostly at the mountains and in the car on the never-ending search for handrails and urban spots around the eastcoast.  The last session went down til 3am last week at mount snow’s carinthia deck rail - which I consider one of the most successful after we thought we were getting kicked out but just got the ohkay from a Mt. Snow security guard and encouragement from the groomers, and not to mention leaving with about 10+ shots. ( SOME STILLS FROM the 3am SESSION)Seth’s mangled board.Ben FS crailJon FS to tailpress 1 outLuke Blunt pivotSteve Blunt27 This past weekend we went to Mt. Snow’s Anti-gravity grail rail jam -under the lights friday night, along with some fresh snow.Despite the awkward gaps into their boxes and 2run format, Steve made finals but couldn’t get anything in the 2 run finals… Congrats to Zach for the 1st place finish.Sunday we went to the local mountain in Keene, NH - Granite Gorge for the GG Games (Big Air,Rail Jam, and BoarderX).   Mike Fager made it to Big air finals with massive fs 7s but didn’t land his fs 9 in finals.  Steve Lauder took the rail jam and overall 1st for the games and Luke Mohr took 3rd in the jam and 2nd overall.Next stop : Salt Lake City- March 13th… Look out for a new teaser coming
